Heart of Chaos inspires me to continue
to create and share my works with the world.

HOC has done so much for me! It's given
me an opportunity to meet and work with other artists and
participate in events with them. I've been able to show my
work to lots of people and make lots of new friends (and art
groupies)! I've been able to stretch my imagination and do
things I hadn't thought of before. The group is fun because
they're open to making any creative idea happen!

Heart of Chaos provided me with an open
environment to develop the tertiary skills I needed to become
a successful artist. I had been producing artwork for years
and years but never felt a connection to any kind of community
surrounding it. Then I went to a HOC live painting exhibit,
and they asked me if I was going to participate. I was taken
aback because most of the other art organizations I'd seen
to date were exclusive in the true sense of the word. HOC
is the opposite; they're very much inclusive. The barrier
to enter the Heart of Chaos community is low enough to be
accessible to everyone, no matter what your educational background
is, what zip code you live in, or what your aesthetic values
are. Now I definitely do feel a connection to an artist community.
I have new friends that I met through the organization that
may not have met otherwise. That's a real value for me, and
I very much appreciate their ongoing efforts to provide these
opportunities to people like me.

Heart of Chaos is a gem for every artist and community!!!
I've had the chance to curate art shows and teach fine art
at the Santa Clara Juvenile Hall. Being able to exhibit, engage
and network with other artists around the bay area has motivated
me to keep making art. It's great to know that there is an
organization in the bay area that is dedicated to their artists
and involvement with their community. The opportunities with
HOC are endless and I encourage anyone to be involved with
them.

In 2001 I began to paint for the first time. I am not professionally trained. It came from inspiration within myself to be creative. I was rejected three times at the first gallery I submitted my work to. I was living in a predominately hispanic community in the central valley of California. Everytime I was rejected it made me a better and stronger artist. Eventually I was accepted and was the first hispanic artist to ever have work in this particular gallery. It is hard to believe but very true and unfortunately the situation for many aspiring talented artists. I have found in my art career that it is very difficult for up and coming artists to be accepted especially if the work does not fit into the mainstream art category. When I had my own exhibit for the first time, I had the best turnout that anyone had at this particular gallery in Merced CA.. This inspired me and made them see me in a different light. Since then I have never stopped. I would like to say thank you for giving alternative great artists the opportunity to display their work. I would be happy to help your organization in anyway. Thank you for giving artists a place to show their work.
