The Community Outreach Task Force was created
by Heart of Chaos Co-Directors Anabella Pinon and Miguel Machuca
in 2006. By partnering with guest artists and art groups the program
benefits the community at large though mentorship of at risk youth.
Volunteer artists teach weekly art classes in three living units
of Santa Clara County's Juvenile Hall building a foundation for
the youth to build upon after they are released. The program provides
45 units of service a week.
Upon release the youth are mentored by Heart
of Chaos and encouraged to participate in exhibits
and events. Through donations and sponsorships
we are able to provide them with art supplies to keep their creative
fires burning.
In the future the Task Force will partner with Catalyst
for Youth to provide employment to released youth through Heart
of Chaos run businesses. We are currently seeking funding for this
initiative. If you would like to help fund this new program please
contact Catalyst for Youth's Executive Director Joanne
Hobbs.

This monthly publication which is posted on the Santa Clara County
Probation website and is sent online to every one in the department
and printed for distribution to parents and interested parties who
have youth detained in the facility is created by Catalyst
for Youth Executive Director Joanne Hobbs. Her intention is
to educate the public about "what's working in Juvenile Hall"
using the powerful "Appreciative Inquiry" (AI) method
of organizational change and personal stories of inspiration, success
and transformation. Check out past issues in our News
section.
