STROKE ALERT!
A Benefit Art Show & Sale for Stroke Awareness

There are approximately 700,000 strokes affecting people in our country every year, 4,500 affecting those in Santa Clara County alone. Stroke
is the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States, after heart
disease and cancer. Many strokes are preventable and awareness of the signs and symptoms of stroke can save lives.

Sara Cole Fine Art Studio is hosting a stroke awareness art show
and sale to raise awareness of strokes, and to benefit both the Stroke Awareness Foundation and recent multiple stroke survivor Margaret Cole’s long term care and rehabilitation. Margaret, 63, has undergone several strokes in the last 18 months and is in need of assistance to complete her rehabilitation and long term medical care and housing costs.

STROKE ALERT!, a benefit event, will include live music, information
provided by the Stroke Awareness Foundation, live action painting, live belly dancing, and live glass blowing, and over 100 works of art
donated by many generous local artists for sale.

STROKE ALERT! is being held Saturday August 14th, 2010, from 6pm till 10pm at the Sara Cole Fine Art Studio, 592 North 5th Street, San Jose CA 95112.

July 16th, 2010

WEB_FLYER

The Soulero’s Ball & Show N’ Shine on July 17, located at the Creekside Inn on 544 W. Alma Avenue in San Jose, Ca will be the first of three  classic car, classic Soul music and Chicano art events this year. Modeled after the Lowrider Balls that took place at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds during San Jose’s golden years ofLowriding but with an emphasis on rare Soul music pressed on 45’s, hence the term “Soulero” a rare Soul 45 collector from the barrio. The goal for the first two events on July 17, and August 28, located at the same venue is to promote and raise funds for the Streetlow Arte Soulero’s Ball & Costume Party that will donate a portion of it’s earnings to Heart of Chaos, a non profit organization and art program dedicating it’s efforts to uplifting the lives of incarcerated youth inside the juvenile system. The Streetlow Arte Soulero’s Ball & Costume Party will kick off on Friday October 1, with an art gallery featuring artwork from incarcerated youth and adults as well as many other local artists. In the spirit of Holloween, the the Streetlow Arte Soulero’s Ball will also consist of a costume party and contest sponsored by Greenspan’s for the best dressed Cholos, Zoot Suiters, Rockabillies and pin ups

The Soulero’s Ball & Show N’ Shine on July 17, will be featuring a great line up of Soul music collectors including Moses Arroyo, Tony C. (90.9fm KHDC), Tommy Siqueiro and the Soul Strivers spinning rare Soul 45’s. The Soulero’s Ball will also feature artwork from Miguel Machuca who will be perfoming live artwork, Greg Carrillo a vetereno Chicano artist from the Mission District and Pistolero Viejo, a collective of tattoo artists who focus their artistry on the original black and grey Chicano tattoo prison art style.  Hosted by David Madrid from Block 2 Block Radio (91.5 KKUP) and Dulce “Dee Lady” Fernandez from PD Sounds (live365.com <http://live365.com/> ) who will be announcing shout outs, dedications and raffle prize winners. Last but definitely not least this amazing event will end with a live performance by local Soul singer and Bronx native, Dino Aponte. This wonderful Soul music and Chicano art show will also include raffle prizes and an invitation to all Car Clubs to Show N’ Shine their beautiful cars under the sun.

Phantom Galleries

May 28th, 2010

Art has the power to loosen the tight grasp of the conscious mind, permitting unknown moods and images to arise. It is a gateway to an archetypal reality where all aspects of the self reside, owned or not. Machuca is an emerging artist lifting the veil and allowing others a glimpse of disturbing and yet infinite richness of the shadow realm. The shadow substances in his paintings have been actively hunted and retrieved inviting the viewer to work with material. Shadow work means hearing the messages from hidden parts of our selves and listening to the voices that have been silenced. ”  Phantom Galleries
